過去進(jìn)行時(shí)
1. 定義：
表示過去某一具體時(shí)間正在發(fā)生的動作。
2. 時(shí)間標(biāo)志：
at … yesterday morning
at that time
from nine to ten last evening
when, while, as
e.g.
We were watching TV from six to nine last night.
What was he researching all day last Sunday?

when，while，as都可以引導(dǎo)時(shí)間狀語從句，但用法區(qū)別非常大。
一、when可以和延續(xù)性動詞連用，也可以和短暫性動詞連用；而while和as只能和延續(xù)性動詞連用。
e.g. They arrived while we were
having dinner. =
They arrived when we were
having dinner.
我們吃飯的時(shí)候他們到了。
二、由when引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語從句，如果主句是過去進(jìn)行時(shí)，從句應(yīng)該用一般過去時(shí)，表示一個(gè)動作正在進(jìn)行的時(shí)候另一個(gè)動作突然發(fā)生了，強(qiáng)調(diào)后一動作發(fā)生的突然性。
