T: If you couldn’t hear the first one, it means you’re not a dog![laugh].Dogs can hear very high frequency sounds, but people can’t.And if you could hear the second one, you’re younger than 25.

S: Wow! Why is that?

T: Our ears change when we get older.Children and young people can hear the second one, but most people older than 25 can’t.

1.預(yù)測內(nèi)容

Before you listen, you can read the questions and the choices.It will help you to predict what you will hear.For example, from Question 1’s choices, we can find A and B are similar, which is important.During your listening, when you hear “Did you hear that?” “If you couldn’t hear the first one...if you could hear the second one” “Our ears change when...”,you may know the answer is A.

2.巧聽爆破音

(1)爆破音+爆破音:6個爆破音【t,d,k,g,p,b】中的任意2個相臨時,前一個爆破音會失去爆破,即由相關(guān)的發(fā)音器官做好這個發(fā)音的姿勢,稍做停頓后即發(fā)后面的爆破音。例如You’ve stoo(d) by me, girl.

(2)爆破音+摩擦音:如果前面是爆破音,其后緊跟著某些摩擦音(如/f/,/s/,/w/等),那么前面那個爆破音僅有十分輕微的爆破,而后面那個摩擦音則要完全爆破。例如You’re the bes(t) friend.
