1.Earthquakes usually come without warning.
without為介詞,意為“沒(méi)有”,后面跟動(dòng)詞時(shí)要用動(dòng)名詞形式,也可跟名詞或代詞。
2.Stay calm as the earth begins to shake and move.
stay calm意為“保持鎮(zhèn)靜”。stay在此處為系動(dòng)詞,意為“保持……的狀態(tài)”。calm為形容詞,意為“平靜的,鎮(zhèn)靜的”,用在stay后作表語(yǔ)。
【辨析】shake,move
(1)shake為動(dòng)詞,意為“顫抖,搖動(dòng)”。還可以作名詞,意為“搖動(dòng),抖動(dòng)”,其過(guò)去式為shook。
(2)move用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),意為“移動(dòng)”。也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞,還可表示“搬家,感動(dòng)”。
3.An earthquake is dangerous,but there are things you can do to protect yourself.
本句中to protect yourself為動(dòng)詞不定式作目的狀語(yǔ)。
4.You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects.
protect為及物動(dòng)詞,意為“保護(hù)”,其名詞形式為protection。常用結(jié)構(gòu)protect sth./sb. from doing sth.意為“保護(hù)……不受……之害”。
5.The kitchen is dangerous because there are so many glass objects.
so many意為“如此多”,常用于修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù);修飾不可數(shù)名詞時(shí),用so much。

if引導(dǎo)的條件狀語(yǔ)從句,主句為祈使句,從句要用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。
