【句法分析】
此句是 was doing...when... 結構，表示一件事情正在進行，這時另一件事情發(fā)生了，when 后的句子用一般過去時。

be about to do...when... 剛要做……這時（突然）……

had just/hardly/scarcely done...when... 剛做完……，這時……
【誤區(qū)警示】
上面句式中的when 用作并列連詞，相當于just at this/that time。

【學法點撥】
現(xiàn)在分詞（短語）作狀語，可表示時間、原因、條件、讓步、結果或伴隨情況等�，F(xiàn)在分詞作狀語時，句子主語是現(xiàn)在分詞動作的執(zhí)行者，主語與現(xiàn)在分詞是主動關系。
（1）作時間狀語（可轉換為時間狀語從句）
Working as a volunteer teacher in the west，the girl took up growing vegetables.
在西部地區(qū)當志愿者老師時，這個女孩對種菜產(chǎn)生了興趣。
（2）作原因狀語（可轉換為原因狀語從句）
Being ill，she didn’t go to school as usual today.
