1．Regional Varieties 地方戲曲
For more than two thousand years, Chinese opera has evolved into many different regional varieties (種類) based on local traits and accents.Kun Opera, Qinqiang Opera, and Yu Opera, Yue Opera, Huangmei Opera are all very enjoyable.Beijing Opera, the bestknown Chinese opera style, was formed from the mingling (混合) of these regional styles.
兩千多年來，中國戲曲形成了各種不同地方戲曲，有昆曲、秦腔、豫劇、越劇、黃梅戲等。京劇融合了中國各劇種的精髓，是我國的國粹。
2．Hodgepodge of Different Arts 藝術(shù)大雜燴
Chinese opera evolved from folk songs, dances, talking, antimasque (滑稽戲), and especially distinctive dialectical (方言的) music.It combined music, art and literature into one performance on the stage.
中國戲曲融合了民間歌舞、說唱和滑稽戲，還有獨特的地方音樂。中國戲曲在舞臺上展現(xiàn)了音樂、美術(shù)和文學(xué)等多種藝術(shù)形式。
3．The Highlights 特色
The different styles of facial makeup are the highlights and they require distinctive techniques of painting.Exaggerated (夸張的) designs are painted on each performer's face to symbolize a character's personality.
不同風(fēng)格的面妝是一大特色，它需要特殊的繪畫技巧。演員們面涂各種夸張的圖案，代表不同角色的個性。
What fascinates people most is the marvelous kungfu and acrobatics (雜技)．Players can make fire spray out of their mouths when they act as spirits, or can gallop while squatting to act as a dwarf.
