英語(yǔ)不同時(shí)態(tài)的最大的區(qū)別之一是動(dòng)詞的變化。試比較：
This year is 2013. The twins are 4 years old.
Last year was 2012. The twins were 3 years old.
Next year will be 2014. The twins will be 5 years old.
今年是2013年。那對(duì)雙胞胎4歲了。
去年是2012年。那對(duì)雙胞胎3歲。
明年是2014年。那對(duì)雙胞胎將是5歲。
從例句可以看出，英語(yǔ)一般過(guò)去時(shí)中動(dòng)詞be的過(guò)去式為_(kāi)___, _____。今天就講動(dòng)詞be的一般過(guò)去時(shí)。

Grammar
一般過(guò)去時(shí)I (be 動(dòng)詞)
若主語(yǔ)是第一人稱(chēng)單數(shù)或第三人稱(chēng)單數(shù)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用was；主語(yǔ)是第二人稱(chēng)或其它人稱(chēng)的復(fù)數(shù)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用were。例如:
He was in a bank a moment ago.
剛才他在銀行。
They were at KTV last night.
昨晚他們?cè)贙TV。
You were at home yesterday.
昨天你在家。
否定句
在was/were后 + not 即可變?yōu)榉穸ň洹?/p>
Tom and Li Ming were not (=weren’t) in the classroom just now.
